Welcome to Therapy With Khushi!

Know your Therapist

Welcome to a space of genuine understanding and empowerment, where I, as a Queer-affirmative, Poly-Friendly, Trauma-Informed, and Anti-Oppressive therapist, embrace diversity and individuality. Following the principles of Intersectional Feminism, I wish to create a safe haven for all identities and expressions.

I believe in the role that intersectionality plays in our lives, recognizing that our experiences are shaped by the complex interplay of gender, sexuality, race, caste, ethnicity, ability, and more.

I also believe that the "transformative" journey to healing and growth is actually non-linear and continuous. It starts with awareness and goes on for a lifetime. It requires a lot of unlearning what doesn't help us, being authentic to ourselves, and understanding our strengths and weaknesses shaped by societal conditioning, privilege, and accessibility to help us navigate life.

With my work, I am dedicated to fostering personal growth, self-acceptance, and resilience within a framework that challenges traditional boundaries and societal norms that may not align with who we are, every time.

Educational Qualifications

I hold an M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, Karnataka, and a BA (Hons.) in Psychology from the University of Delhi.

During my master's program, I completed 2 years of clinical training and observership at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal where I came across people with divergent needs and age groups and worked alongside multiple departments involved in mental health and medicine. I have also interned at Fortis Healthcare, New Delhi during my Bachelor's.

I have also interned at LightUp: EMF, an organization where we conducted research and dealt with areas such as Trauma, Research and Impact Assessment, Community-based expressive arts, Gender and Mental health, Emotional Intelligence, Self-care, and SEL module building for community interventions in high tension space areas such as sex workers and juvenile kids.

Further, I am a published research author and have worked on various research projects since. I worked as a Research Assistant to a PhD Scholar at Kingston University, London, last year.

I am currently pursuing PG Diploma in Counselling Psychology from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, where I  work as a trainee therapist under the regular guidance and supervision of my faculty.

Why I chose Psychotherapy?

At age 16, when I first found out about Psychology as a subject in school, I couldn't stop myself from spending all my days and nights reading academic textbooks in one go, researching careers and scope in the field, and asking as many people as I could about multiple whys and hows on various websites online. I remember always missing a goal in life until I found this. I immediately knew what I wanted to do for a living.

Having been in therapy myself for a long time at various instances in my life has always made it even more rewarding and given me a purpose. All I had was a vision in mind, and I just haven't stopped ever since.

My Scope of Practice

My Therapeutic style

I work with an Emotion-Focused and Gestalt-based approach. In simple terms, I believe that being vulnerable with emotions and coming to awareness of our core emotions is one of the biggest strengths we have as a person. By exploring and processing these emotions, we unfold hidden vulnerabilities, enabling cathartic release and meaningful self-discovery. This approach nurtures emotional intelligence, enriches interpersonal connections, and cultivates resilience, facilitating lasting emotional transformation.

Further, through Gestalt therapy, we explore present-moment awareness, helping us integrate fragmented aspects of ourselves, just like picking pieces from the past and uncertainties of the future to integrate a coherent present self.

A trauma-informed approach embodies sensitivity and acknowledges past traumas. It involves safety, empowerment, and healing while avoiding re-traumatization.

How I de-stress?

I have a small go-to list: jump, yell, cry, talk. All my ways to de-stress are pretty much summed up in this. I like to talk to my friends to seek reassurance, move around to release excess energy, express my emotions through various forms of art, cry it out, or sleep.

I am regularly undergoing personal therapy to continue working on myself, as I believe that every therapist should have a therapist.

Mediums offered, Working Days and Fees

Currently, I take video sessions via Google Meet. I work every Monday to Saturday from 10 AM until 9 PM IST. You can find out more about a particular slot on the Slot-booking page.

At the moment, I offer a sliding scale (Pay what you can) basis. The charges are between 800-1200 INR, with further discounts available or students and unemployed individuals.

You may pay what you wish, within this range. It is to be noted that I revise my fee every 4-6 months, information about which will be given to you in advance.

On Interaction outside the therapy space

As a dedicated psychotherapist, I value the boundaries of our therapeutic relationship. In the current era of everlasting online presence, there can be many instances where we come across each other on various platforms, apps, and so on. I refrain from personally connecting over there to uphold confidentiality, ethical standards, and the integrity of our therapeutic journey, except for the work-related conversations over Emails and/or WhatsApp.

While I genuinely care about my clients, interactions outside the therapy space are discouraged. This ensures a safe, confidential, and professional environment for our work together, promoting your growth and well-being.
